Collection and transport of wastewater

Untreated wastewater of each community is transported to the pumping station of the Reinhaltungsverband Region Neusiedler See- Westufer via the sewer system.

Furthermore the wastewater is collected in the pumping station and transported to the Reinhaltungsverband Region Neusiedler See- Westufer via three starlike arranged pressure mains in “sawtooth-principle”.

Waste water treatment and sludge treatment

Treatment of incoming wastewater happens in several partitions, which simplified described, are made up of mechanical and biological treatment facilities.

Mechanical treatment

It consists of a fine screen system, the aerated grit chamber with integrated oil trap and grit classifier. These systems are able to collect and clean or remove coarse particles in the influent stream.

Biological treatment

The most important treatment step of the wastewater treatment plant takes place in the aeration tanks.

It comprises four selectors, two elliptic aeration tanks and two round secondary settlement tanks.

After quality assurance, cleaned water is discharged to the Wulka and reaches the Neusiedler See after a short flow distance.

Sludge treatment

Special bacterial cultures called activated sludge are responsible for an important part of the purification.

In various parts surplus aerobic stabilized sludge is collected. The conditioning and dewatering process using a high pressure membrane filter press takes place in a separate plant building.

Control and regulation

All parts of the wastewater treatment plant as well as all external facilities are controlled remotely via a computerized process control system.

Data input, tuning as well as observation is done in the company building of the wastewater treatment plant. All necessary chemical parameters are determined and registered in the internal laboratory by skilled employees.
